PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing an oriented electromagnetic steel sheet with excellent iron loss characteristics and reduced variation of iron loss characteristics in a coil longitudinal direction.SOLUTION: There is provided a method for manufacturing an oriented electromagnetic steel sheet in which a steel raw material containing, by mass%, 0.002 to 0.10% of C, 2.0 to 8.0% of Si, and 0.005 to 1.0% of Mn is subjected to hot rolling, cold rolling, primary recrystallization firing with decarbonization firing, and final cold rolling, where an aging temperature and an aging time in the final cold rolling of the cold rolling described above satisfy the formula (1) and a 200 to 700°C section of a heating process of the primary recrystallization firing is rapid heating at 50°C/s or more, retention treatment at any temperature of 250 to 500°C for treatment time of 0.5 to 10 sec is conducted 1 to 4 times, and retention treatment at any temperature of 500 to 700°C for treatment time of 0.5 to 3 sec is conducted 1 or 2 time.
