PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lighting unit capable of irradiating the other part as well as irradiating a road surface and the like by light from one light source with a simple structure.SOLUTION: A lighting unit 10 mounted on a vehicle door has: a light source 1; a projection system 2 for projecting one part of light from the light source 1 to the lower part of the vehicle door; and an irradiation system for radiating the other part of the light from the light source 1 to the other direction. The projection system 2 guides a part of the light from the light source 1 via a projection film 4, and projects an image to be projected to the lower part of the vehicle door. The irradiation system is provided on a side surface of the vehicle door and has a light diffusion lighting part for diffusing the light from the light source 1. The lighting unit 10 includes a cylindrical member 18 for supporting an optical system for guiding the light from the light source 1. The cylindrical member 18 has a translucent part provided on the surface on a lateral side of an optical axis of the optical system. The light diffusion lighting part of the irradiation system is provided in the vicinity of the translucent part, and configured so as to diffuse the light via the translucent part of the cylindrical member.
