PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic electroluminescent device having a long life and a high external extraction quantum efficiency by use of an organic electroluminescent device material which is usable in a wet process and higher in the abilities to charge and transport electric charges and the stability in a solvent in comparison to conventional organic EL device materials.SOLUTION: An organic electroluminescent device comprises organic compound layers sandwiched and held between a positive electrode and a negative electrode and including a light-emitting layer and an electron transport layer. In the organic electroluminescent device, at least one of the organic compound layers includes a polymer electron transport material including a repeating unit expressed by the following general formula (1).
