The present invention is to strictly manage lamp information on a discharge lamp to be turned on so as to appropriately turn on the same. According the discharge lamp of the present invention, a transmitter (6) is mounted to surround a lamp feeding line (5) which is provided in a lamp (1). The transmitter (6) is operated by using current flowing in the lamp feeding line (5). The transmitter (6) overlaps a signal according to information on a format or accumulated lighting time of the lamp, etc. with lighting current so as to transmit the same to a light source device, and the light source device (7) refers to the signal so as to determine whether the lighting can be continued or not, and to control lighting power of the lamp. The lamp information can be certainly managed by using lighting current to the transmission of the lamp information, and the lamp can be safely turned on all the time.
