It also relates to a method for regulating the acidity of motor oil whereby the oil is caused to pass through the acidity-regulating device. A vehicle is provided with the acidity-regulating device for motor oil.

1. A device for reducing the acidity of a motor oil, comprising:
a container, wherein the container is configured to be situated in a position to receive motor oil carrying hydrogen ions; and monovalent cation exchangers in the container, wherein at least part of the container is penetrable by the motor oil to permit entry of the motor oil into the container, and wherein the monovalent cation exchangers capture hydrogen ions and exchange hydrogen ions in the motor oil with other ions that do not increase acidity of the motor oil.
