PURPOSE:To easily obtain road traffic information by characters and a simple map. CONSTITUTION:Based on the location of a car detected by a GPS receiver 4, a map plotting part 10d plots the map image surrounding the location of the car with the mark of the location of the car on a video RAM 10c by using the map data of CD-ROM 3. After the image is converted into a prescribed video signal in a conversion part 10a, a screen display is performed for the image on a display device 6. In parallel to this, VICS data of various kinds of levels which is transmitted from a VICS correspondence station is received by a tuner 2 for FM multiplex broadcasting and is temporarily stored in a buffer memory 10a. A retrieval part 10a retrieves whether VICS data of a level 1 or 2 for the link in the periphery of the location of the car is received or not, referring to map data and a buffer memory 10a. When the data is received, a road traffic information guide part 10f plots the road traffic information image based on the VICS data on the part of a video RAM 10c and displays the image on the part of a map image screen. |
