PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve detection accuracy of a lens position.SOLUTION: A position detection device 100 according to the present invention comprises: a movement-amount detection unit 110 that is movable in a prescribed operation range, and detects an amount of operation of a lens operation unit moving a lens according to an operation; a movement velocity detection unit 120 that detects an operation velocity of the lens operation unit; and a control unit 130 that controls a lens position on the basis of a detected amount of operation from a reference point in the operation range of the lens operation unit. The control unit 130 is configured to cause an operation of the lens to be halted on the basis of the operation velocity detected by the movement velocity detection unit 120 when operating the lens operation unit toward one end point of the operation range of the lens operation unit, and determine a position where the lens is halted as the reference point.
