PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent an increase in unnecessary conveyance resistance and wear of a belt during thin-paper feeding, while achieving an efficient cooling effect in a recording material cooling device, so as to obtain a sufficient cooling effect during thick-paper feeding as well.SOLUTION: In a recording material cooling device 9 that cools a recording material while holding and conveying the recording material with a first conveyance mechanism 31 and a second conveyance mechanism 32 that are arranged opposite to each other, the first and second conveyance mechanisms have belt members 56 and 59, and a stretch member that stretches the belt members; the first and second conveyance mechanisms each have a cooling member 33 that is in contact with the inner peripheral surfaces of the belt members to cool the recording material; the total area of contact surfaces of the cooling members 33 in contact with the inner peripheral surfaces of the belt members is different between the first and second conveyance mechanisms; at least one of the two belt members having the smaller total amount of the contact members of the cooling members in contact with the inner peripheral surfaces of the belt members includes tension control means; the recording material cooling device 9 has a control part 67 that controls the tension control means on the basis of conditions of requirements. |
