The present invention relates to a method for running a software by a switch of a software defined network. The method includes the steps of: establishing network connection to a control device of the software defined network; receiving a software module from the control device; and running the software module. According to the present invention, the switch can perform a function beyond an open flow area while supporting an open flow protocol. Therefore, a function realized by the software defined network can be extended, and performance can be enhanced.
