An embodiment of the present invention relates to an apparatus and a method for controlling an air cleaner using a motion. Disclosed is an apparatus for controlling an air cleaner comprising multiple motion detecting parts detecting a motion of a user; a motion determining part determining a type of the motion based on the motion detected in the motion detecting parts; and a control part controlling an operation of the air cleaner according to the motion type determined in the motion determining part, wherein the motion determining part determines a motion type by distinguishing according to at least one among a motion detecting sequence and number in each of the motion detecting parts. |
