Provided is a method capable of producing a fluoropolymer aqueous dispersion liquid that has excellent dispersion stability, while containing particles having extremely small diameters. A method for producing a fluoropolymer aqueous dispersion liquid, which is a method for producing an aqueous dispersion liquid that contains at least one fluoropolymer selected from the group consisting of polytetrafluoroethylenes and melt-processable fluororesins (excluding polytetrafluoroethylenes), in said method polymerization of a fluoromonomer being carried out in an aqueous medium in the presence of a fluorine-containing surfactant and a polymerization initiator. This method for producing a fluoropolymer aqueous dispersion liquid is characterized in that the concentration of the fluorine-containing surfactant in the aqueous medium is 0.8 times or more the critical micelle concentration of the fluorine-containing surfactant. |
