PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rectangular parallelepiped secondary battery arranged so as to be able to efficiently release heat generated by a collector plate to the outside, and enables the suppression of the electrode degradation owing to a high temperature.SOLUTION: A rectangular parallelepiped secondary battery 100 according to the present invention comprises: a wound electrode group 3 arranged by winding a positive electrode 34 and a negative electrode 32 which have a positive electrode foil-exposed part 34c and a negative electrode foil-exposed part 32c respectively; an electrolyte 16; a battery can 1 enclosing the wound electrode group 3 with the electrolyte 16 filled therein; and a positive electrode collector plate 44 and a negative electrode collector plate 24 which are joined to the positive electrode foil-exposed part 34c and the negative electrode foil-exposed part 32c, respectively. The positive electrode collector plate 44 has a protrusion 45 provided therein, which protrudes downward below a positive electrode foil-joined part 42. The protrusion 45 has a leading end 45a which is located below a previously set liquid level S of free liquid 16a. |
