The purpose of the present invention is to provide a high-strength steel wire material having low electric resistivity. This steel wire material contains as chemical components C, Si, Mn, Cr, and Al; and, with N, P, and S being restricted, selectively contains one or more elements selected from the group consisting of Mo, V, Ti, Nb, and B, with the remainder being Fe and impurities. The composition of the steel wire material is 85% or more pearlite by area, the average lamellar spacing thereof being 50-100 nm. The steel wire material satisfies the relation ([%Crθ]/[%Crα])≥(2.0+[%Si]×10), where [%Si] expresses the Si content, [%Crθ] expresses the Cr content of cementite within the pearlite, and [%Crα] expresses the Cr content of ferrite within the pearlite, with all percentage amounts being expressed on a mass basis. |
