PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal expansion restraining member that has a negative thermal expansion characteristic, and an anti-thermal expansion member that has a small thermal expansion and is metallic.SOLUTION: Provided are a thermal expansion restraining member at least comprising an oxide represented by the following general formula (1), and an anti-thermal expansion member comprising a metal having a positive linear expansion coefficient at 20°C and a solid matter at least comprising an oxide represented by the following general formula (1), the metal and solid matter being joined to each other.
