PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stably protect an electronic apparatus and electric facility from a lightning surge without using a varistor.SOLUTION: A surge protection device 6 is so configured that a plurality of discharge gaps nipped by discharge electrodes is connected in cascade. A distance between discharge electrodes nipping a higher voltage side discharge gap is shorter than a distance between discharge electrodes nipping a neighboring lower voltage side discharge gap. Since discharging is performed for a discharge gap b11, a discharge gap b12, and a discharge gap b13 in order from gaps with shorter discharge electrode distances, stable discharge becomes possible. |
