PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical module having a structure for controlling a flow of resin, such as underfill, over a long distance.SOLUTION: An optical module includes: an optical element for performing energy conversion between electrical energy and optical energy; a substrate 300A that includes a substrate surface 310A having an optical transmission area for transmitting light and adjacent areas abutting the optical transmission area; a resin layer made of a resin supplied to the optical transmission area; and a guide 500A for guiding the resin. The optical transmission area includes a first area that supports the optical element, and a second area in which an optical transmission structure is mounted to enable optical transmission in cooperation with the optical element. The guide 500A includes a first guide section 510 that catches the resin flowing from the first area toward the second area in a first direction and guides the resin in a second direction that is different from the first direction, and second guide sections 520 that change the direction of the resin flowing in the second direction. |
