<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a feeling, initial ball speed, spin characteristic and controllability by forming a specific layer number of covers harder than the innermost layer cover and the outermost layer cover in an intermediate layer. SOLUTION: The Shore D hardness of the innermost layer cover of the golf ball consisting of the covers having a multilayered structure is specified to <=55 deg. and more particularly about 40 to about 51 deg. and the Shore D hardness of the outermost layer cover to <=55 deg. and more particularly about 34 to about 42 deg.. The innermost intermediate covers are formed therebetween by specifying the Shore D hardness thereof to >=55 deg., more particularly about 61 to 66 deg.. The intermediate layer covers harder than the innermost layer cover and the outermost cover layer are composed of >=1 layers. If these conditions are not met, the hard feeling is resulted, the initial ball speed is not obtainable and the spin characteristic degrades in some cases. The intermediate layer covers are preferably formed to one to two layers. In the case of >=2 layers, the cover which covers a cover right above the innermost layer cover is formed as the innermost intermediate layer cover. The hard covers are preferably used for the intermediate covers exclusive thereof when a flying characteristic is not pursued and the soft covers are preferably used when the feeling characteristic is not regarded important.</p> |
