The device has an opened removable storage receptacle (RC) placed on a floor pan (PL) of a motor vehicle (V), and comprising a bottom wall (FR) equipped with a lower peripheral edge, where the receptacle is made of composite material. Supports (PR) have ends integrated to rails (LG) of the vehicle and placed at the rear of the vehicle. The supports are partially housed in a peripheral passage of the receptacle in a removable manner to support the receptacle in rear extension of the vehicle by defining an external zone for transporting an object (OB).
