<p>The present invention pertains to a cutting insert (1) having a cutting edge (7) formed on the intersecting edge line between one end face (2) of two opposing end faces and a side face (9) that extends between the two end faces. One embodiment of the cutting insert (1) has recessed curved edge parts (7a), which form part of the cutting edge (7) and are curved in the direction in which the two end faces are connected. Recessed curved surfaces (11) are formed in the one end face (2) so as to extend to the recessed curved edge part (7a). The recessed curved surfaces (11) include a cutting surface part (11a), a first rising wall surface part (11c), and a second rising wall surface part (11e) formed at a location which is farther from the other end face than is the first rising wall surface part.</p> |
