A video display device (100) comprises an arrangement of pixels (110) for displaying video content. The arrangement of pixels (110) comprises at least four individual light sources (111, 112, 113, 114) of different colors for each pixel (110). Further, the controller (120) is configured to select, depending on a color purity value, between at least a first mode in which the individual light sources (111, 112, 113, 114) are controlled to display the video content according to a first mapping of color information of the video content to intensities of said individual light sources (111, 112, 113, 114), and a second mode in which said individual light sources (111, 112, 113, 114) are controlled to display the video content according to a second mapping of color information of the video content to intensities of said individual light sources (111, 112, 113, 114). |
