<p>Provided is a protective film for a polarization plate and a manufacturing method enabling fabrication in the absence of process contamination due to dislodged microparticles. Particularly in an instance where the protective film for a polarization plate is used as a protective film for a backlight-side polarization plate of a liquid crystal display device, moiré fringes can be adequately eliminated and an exceptional screen display obtained without a decrease in front-surface luminance; and excellent light diffusion is exhibited. Further provided are a polarization plate equipped with the protective film for a polarization plate and a liquid crystal display device. This protective film for a polarization plate has a sea-island structure, wherein the protective film is characterized in that the main component of a resin constituting the island is a cellulose ester resin, the main component of a resin constituting the sea is a resin having a lower glass transition temperature than that of the resin constituting the island, the arithmetic mean roughness Ra(A) of one surface (A) of the film lies within a predetermined range, and the arithmetic mean roughness Ra(B) of the reverse-side surface (B) of the film lies within a predetermined range.</p> |
