<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To charge the surface of a charged body such as an image carrier in an image forming apparatus using a contact charging device, in particular, to uniformly charge the surface of the image carrier even if there is potential unevenness on the surface of the image carrier before being charged. <P>SOLUTION: A roller-like charging member 11 that contacts the surface of an image carrier 1 to be rotated is applied with voltage to charge the surface of the image carrier. A surface layer 11c of the charging member that contacts the surface of the image carrier is configured to have materials with different hardness arranged alternately in the rotation direction thereof so as to form portions 11cs having low hardness at the contact portions with the surface of the image carrier and spaces s from and to the surface of the image carrier. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT</p> |
