The present invention relates to a mobile terminal having a side surface display. According to an embodiment of the present invention, the mobile terminal includes: a body having a front surface, a side surface, and a rear surface; a sensing unit which senses the movement of the body; a display unit including a first area arranged on the front surface and a second area extended from the first area to be arranged on the second area; and a control unit which activates the second area when the movement of the body satisfies a preset condition while the second area is deactivated and outputs information, which is related to the information output to the first area, to the second area.
