摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exhaust emission control device for an internal combustion engine that can suppress an increase in pressure within a reactor caused by failure of an ammonia on-off valve.SOLUTION: An exhaust emission control device 1 includes: a selective reduction catalyst 11; a reducing agent tank 13a for storing a reducing agent; a chemical heat storage device 15 that has a reactor 15a including a reaction material chemically reacting with ammonia and directly or indirectly heating the selective reduction catalyst 11 through the chemical reaction, an adsorber 15b including an adsorbent for adsorbing ammonia so as to enable desorption, a connection pipe 15c for interconnecting the reactor 15a and the adsorber 15b and an ammonia on-off valve 15d disposed in the connection pipe 15c; a bypass pipe 17 for interconnecting the reactor 15a and the reducing agent tank 13a; and a bypass on-off valve 19 disposed in the bypass pipe 17. When ammonia is not moved from the reactor 15a to the adsorber 15b due to failure of the ammonia on-off valve 15d, the bypass on-off valve 19 is opened.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
