PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide silver nanowires having a thin and long shape, which exhibit excellent dispersibility in an aqueous solvent to which an alcohol is added.SOLUTION: Provided are silver nanowires coated with a copolymer of a maleimide-based monomer and vinylpyrrolidone, the nanowires having an average diameter of 50 nm or less and an average length of 10 μm or more. The nanowires can be produced, in a production method of silver nanowires where silver is reduction precipitated in a wire-like shape in an alcohol solvent having a silver compound dissolved, by making the precipitation proceed in a state where the copolymer of a maleimide-based monomer and vinylpyrrolidone is dissolved in the solvent.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
