The invention relates to a shifting device for shifting a manual transmission of a vehicle, comprising a gear shift and a shift arm which extends in a vehicle longitudinal direction and on which the gear shift is pivotally mounted. The shift arm has an end portion which is connected to a transmission housing via a coupling device that supports shifting forces. The shift arm is connected to a body of the vehicle via a left and a right sliding bearing which can be displaced in a vehicle longitudinal direction. The two sliding bearings are provided for supporting a selecting torque which is introduced when the gear shift is pivoted about a vehicle longitudinal axis or when individual shift gates of the manual transmission are selected via the gear shift.
