PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a module type multilevel converter which can efficiently control a multiplicity of sub-modules included in the module type multilevel converter.SOLUTION: The module type multilevel converter includes: a plurality of sub-modules including switching elements; a plurality of sub-controllers which control the switching elements included in the plurality of sub-modules, respectively; and a central controller which determines the switching operation conditions of the plurality of sub-modules, and transmits control signals corresponding to the determined switching operation conditions to the plurality of sub-controllers. Each of the plurality of sub-controllers obtains status information to a sub-module which the self-sub-controller controls, and transmits the obtained status information to the central controller. |
