PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photo-acoustic apparatus capable of reducing the amount of data of a reception signal stored in a memory.SOLUTION: A photo-acoustic apparatus comprises: a light source 20; a locator 2 having a receiving element for receiving a photo-acoustic wave, which is generated as a result that the light from the light source 20 is irradiated upon an analyte 8, to output a time series reception signal; a signal data acquisition part 7 for generating reception signal data on the basis of the time series reception signal outputted from the receiving element; a light quantity acquisition part 5 for acquiring the quantity of light at an attention position in the analyte; and an information acquisition part 9 for acquiring the analyte information in the analyte on the basis of the reception signal data stored in the signal data acquisition part 7. When the quantity of light at an attention position is smaller than a threshold value, the signal data acquisition part 7 reduces the data quantity of such a received signal of the received signals of the time series as corresponds to an attention position, and creates and stores said received signal. |
