Provided is a method for producing polycarbonate that makes it possible to dry polycarbonate powder efficiently and poses no risk of causing deterioration of the quality of the polycarbonate molded articles obtained. A method for producing polycarbonate having a step for producing an organic solvent solution including polycarbonate by reacting an alkali aqueous solution of dihydric phenol and phosgene in the presence of an organic solvent, a pulverization step for obtaining polycarbonate powder by pulverizing the organic solvent solution including polycarbonate, and a drying step of the previous stage for removing the residual organic solvent by drying the polycarbonate powder, wherein the drying temperature in the drying step of the previous stage in the method for producing polycarbonate is 5-15℃ lower than the glass transition temperature of the polycarbonate including 1.5 mass% of the organic solvent.
