Tread bands. - Autiskidding devices of the metal chain type for application to wheel tyres are provided with special links comprising a body portion 8 bent at the ends to form two oppositely extending hooks 10 the bills of which have calks or sharp edges 12 to bite into the road-surface. The links may be of V- shape transversely with a hook and calk occupying each side of the V, the body 8 being disposed at the apex. The calks may be of triangular section, Fig. 1, or square section, Fig. 5. The links may be incorporated in the transverse skid chains C, Fig. 1, or joined together to form a chain which occupies a recess G in the tread of the tyre. |
