This is for a new way of connecting a smart pen 303, or stylus, with a device 301 such as a tablet, smart phone or laptop. The system 300 includes an input component 302, such as a touch screen or similar surface that will accept pen inputs. The pen connects via elements 304 and 305 using a low bandwidth channel to establish a short range wireless first time pairing, or a connection. Once the device and pen are connected it then uses a higher bandwidth short range wireless connection. The pen may also be able to connect to a second device, and may be arranged so that it will connect to whichever device is in closer proximity to it. The pen may also include a memory and a processor. |
