PURPOSE:To eliminate control for the position of a data head when a magnetic disk is exchanged, by measuring the difference in position of each data head and storing the difference in a storage device. CONSTITUTION:A servo track 2 is sought on a servo disk 15 having the same cylinder number as a track 1 on a data disk 14 to which the servo information is recorded when the initial seeking is performed. Then the cylinder number, etc. are read, and then the cylinder number, etc. of the track 1 is read. In this case, a minute shift is given to an access arm with a diagnosis command to read the cylinder number, etc. of the track 1. The shift extent (a) of the access arm that is measured at that time is stored. When the actual data track on the disk 14 is sought, the extent (a) is added to the shift extent given to the servo track having the designated cylinder number of the disk 15. Thus a desired track on the disk 14 is sought. |
