The present invention relates to an apparatus and a method for controlling the speed of a multi-motor. The apparatus for controlling the speed of a multi-motor comprises: a switchboard which receives power from a generator of a ship to distribute the same; a plurality of motors driven by receiving driving power from the switchboard; a driving unit which drives some or all of the motors, and varies frequencies of the driving power applied to the motors to control the speed of the driven motors; and a switching unit which includes a plurality of switches formed in a matrix manner between the driving unit and each motor, and selectively supplies or blocks the driving power supplied to each motor. The speed of a multi-motor is controlled by connecting variable frequency drives and the multi-motor in a matrix manner, and the number of the variable frequency drives is minimized to reduce production costs. |
