A method of driving an imaging device including a pixel array in which a plurality of pixels is arranged, each of the pixels including a first photoelectric conversion unit, a second photoelectric conversion unit, and a micro lens that collects incident light to the first photoelectric conversion unit and the second photoelectric conversion unit, the method comprising: reading out a first signal based on a signal electric charge generated in the first photoelectric conversion unit, and a second signal based on a signal electric charge generated in at least the second photoelectric conversion unit, from each of a plurality of pixels included in a part of the pixel array, in a first frame period; and reading out a third signal based on the signal electric charge generated in the first photoelectric conversion unit and the signal electric charge generated in the second photoelectric conversion unit, from each of a plurality of pixels included in another part of the pixel array, and from which the signals based on the signal electric charges have not been read out in the first frame period, in a second frame period other than the first frame period.
