Disclosed are a video recording system to store a selected frame at high resolution, and an operation method thereof. The operation method of a video recording system comprises: a step of detecting whether a preset event has occurred; a step of checking whether the preset event has occurred at a certain frequency or smaller in response to the occurrence of the preset event; and a step of selecting at least one frame from a photographed image, and storing the selected frame as a high resolution image file in response to the preset event which has occurred at the certain frequency or smaller.
