The present invention discloses a fault detection method and a related device and stack system. The fault detection method is applied in a stack system, where a first communications device includes a first service board and a second service board, the first service board includes a first processor and a first component, the second service board includes a second processor and a second component, where the second component receives a first signal from the first component, updates the current total number of abnormal ports of the second communications device based on the number, which is indicated by the first signal, of abnormal ports of the second communications device, and if the updated current total number of abnormal ports of the second communications device satisfies a failure confirmation condition corresponding to the second communications device, informs the second processor that the second communications device partially or entirely fails. Solutions provided by embodiments of the present invention improve efficiency and reliability of fault detection. |
