<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a highly available image forming device that prevents smoking and firing due to breakage of a fixing belt. <P>SOLUTION: The temperature of the fixing belt is referred (S501). When it is higher than a threshold stored in advance (S502: YES), supply of power to a resistance heating element layer is stopped (S503). If not (S502: NO), the supply of power to the resistance heating element is continued (S504).
