An automatic steering apparatus can comprise: an active front steering apparatus to assist steering of a vehicle; a solenoid valve vertically connected to the active front steering apparatus; and a valve control unit controlling on/off of the solenoid valve based on a state of the vehicle and the active front steering apparatus. According to the automatic steering apparatus and a control method thereof, a load of the active front steering apparatus is controlled to prevent heat from being generated in the automatic steering apparatus and durability from being reduced. Moreover, energy loss caused by regular driving of the load can be reduced. |
