FIELD: process engineering.SUBSTANCE: invention relates to pipe joint weld repair. Weld opening mechanism (20) is used for weld defect elimination. Said mechanism (20) comprises weld opening tool and tool guide (20b). Said mechanism (20) can feature a modular design and can be knocked down to separate portable elements (20a, 20b). Claimed method comprises the steps that follow. Tool guide (20b) is arranged as-locked relative to pipeline. Weld opening tool is directed around pipe weld with the help of aforesaid tool guide (20b). Weld opening tool is used to remove material from the weld faulty part.
