A device and method for setting the signal frequency of a timing sequence controller (TCON) of a display device; the device comprises a frequency setting module for setting the signal frequency of the TCON of the display device as a fixed value having no relationship with the low-voltage differential signaling (LVDS) frequency of the TCON of the display device. Also disclosed is a method for setting the signal frequency of the TCON of the display device, such that the clock frequency of a rear-end TCON will not be affected even if the clock frequency of a front-end LVDS changes, thus saving a PLL circuit for the entire system circuit, and reducing costs.
