PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a controller for an engine that can suppress the fuel consumption of the engine from decreasing.SOLUTION: In a state in which a fuel cut is inhibited, an ECU adjusts the suction air amount and ignition period of an engine according to an accelerator opening (step S2) when determining that an accelerator pedal is stepped down (step S1), and adjusts the suction air amount and ignition period so that the output torque of the engine becomes minimum (step S3) when determining that the accelerator pedal is not stepped down (step S1). |
