PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide imaging device and method that are flexibly adaptable to user's requirement for ranging precision and dynamic range width of HDR images by using one compound-eye camera.SOLUTION: An imaging device has plural imaging optical systems, a compound-eye camera having plural imaging units which are adaptable to the plural imaging optical systems and image optical images of a target object which are formed by the plural imaging optical systems, an optical filter unit having plural filters which correspond to the plural imaging optical systems and transmit incident light while attenuating the incident light with preset different attenuation factors, a sensitivity changing unit for changing the sensitivity of the compound-eye camera, an image creator for creating one image from images picked up by the plural imaging units, and a controller which has plural modes of different brightness ranges, makes the sensitivity changing unit change the sensitivities of the plural imaging units according to the mode, and makes the image creator create one image within the brightness range with images picked up by the plural imaging units. |
