The present invention relates to an edge type backlight unit. The edge type backlight unit includes: a light guide plate; at least one light source which is arranged on the lateral surface of the light guide plate in the width direction of the light guide plate; a light collection device which is located between the light source and the light guide plate, and has an aspherical surface shape protruding to the light guide plate; and lens structures which are parallel to the upper surface of the light guide plate. The lens structures are extended to the width direction of the light guide plate, and are arranged in the length direction of the light guide plate.
