<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately determine a format most suitable for improving a speed of access to data in a storage device, after the start of the use of the storage device. <P>SOLUTION: A database device 10 includes a number-of-pages acquisition unit, an estimation unit, a change determination unit, and a format unit. The number-of-pages acquisition unit acquires the actual number of reference pages each time when a storage unit where data is recorded in one of a record type format and a column division type format is accessed by an application program. The estimation unit obtains the predictive number of reference pages which are predicted to be referred to in the case of the change of a format in the storage unit to the other format, each time when the storage unit is accessed by the application program. The change determination unit determines whether the format in the storage unit should be changed to the other format or not on the basis of the actual number of reference pages and the predictive number of reference pages. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT</p> |
