PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high pressure fuel pump capable of reducing operation noise.SOLUTION: A high pressure fuel pump includes a solenoid valve 10, and an amount of fuel pressure-fed to a fuel injection valve is controlled by the solenoid valve 10. A tapered part 21 of which diameter is reduced as going to a stator 17 side of the solenoid valve 10 is provided on a movable core 20 of the solenoid valve 10, a recession 22 is provided in a position facing the tapered part 21 of the housing 18 of the solenoid valve 10 supporting the movable core 20, and a ball 24 is stored in a ball retaining chamber 23 defined and formed by the recession 22 and the tapered part 21. In the high pressure pump, a distance between the tapered part 21 in a portion where the ball 24 is positioned of the ball retaining chamber 23 and the housing 18 gets shorter as the movable core 20 is closer to the stator 17, and the distance is shorter than a diameter of the ball 24 in a state that the movable core 20 is abutted to the stator 17. |
