PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a catalyst for fuel batteries, which enables the enhancement of the power generation performance of a membrane-electrode assembly.SOLUTION: A method for manufacturing a catalyst for fuel batteries comprises: a mixing step in which a platinum-containing solution, a titanium-containing solution, and conductive carriers are mixed in solvent into a mixture, thereby forming a catalyst precursor having a platinum ion compound and a titanium ion compound supported by the conductive carriers; a solvent-removing step in which the solvent is removed from the mixture resulting from the mixing step, thereby obtaining the catalyst precursor; a sintering step in which after the solvent-removing step, the catalyst precursor is sintered at a temperature of 500-900°C in a hydrogen gas atmosphere, thereby obtaining a sintered material having a complex including platinum and titanium oxide and supported by the conductive carriers; and a cleaning step in which after the sintering step, the sintered material is rinsed with hydrofluoric acid, thereby obtaining the catalyst having the complex including platinum and titanium oxide and supported by the conductive carriers. |
