PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a chip resistor in which the resistor can be protected reliably, even if a large overvoltage is applied.SOLUTION: In a chip resistor, a pair of surface electrodes 2, 3 provided on the surface of an insulating substrate 1 have terminal electrodes 2a, 3a for connection with the end of a resistor 4, and resistance films 8 superposed on the extensions 2b, 3b, where these resistance films 8 are formed of the same resistive material as the resistor 4. A pair of gap electrodes 9 are formed of the extensions 2b, 3b and both resistance films 8, and these gap electrodes 9 are arranged on a straight line parallel with the resistor 4, via an interval G shorter than the distance between both terminal electrodes 2a, 3a. |
