PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus configured to predict contamination state of a fixing section with respect to a plurality of causes, to determine a proper timing to execute fixation cleaning.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus includes: a toner image forming section which forms a toner image on a recording sheet; a fixing section 170 which fixes the toner image on the recording sheet; a determination section which determines whether to execute cleaning processing for removing fouling on the fixing section 170; and a cleaning section which executes the cleaning processing. The determination section determines whether to execute the cleaning processing, by use of a cumulative value of causes of fouling on the fixing section 170, which is generated by repeatedly forming images on recording sheets by the fixing section 170. The cleaning section executes cleaning processing by use of a predetermined recording sheet. Contamination state of the fixing section is predicted with respect to a plurality of causes, to automatically execute fixation cleaning at a proper timing. |
