A method and system for facilitating video sessions are disclosed. The method includes receiving a request for starting a video session from a user terminal, the request including a play mode identified by the user terminal; obtaining a first pre-determined number of frames from a received video signal if the user terminal requests the preview play mode; and sending the first pre-determined number of frames to the user terminal so that that the user terminal can preview the first pre-determined number of frames. Embodiments consistent with the present disclosure thus provide a preview mode that allows a user terminal to choose between a live broadcast mode and a preview mode in a video session.
