摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a highly-efficient and silent propulsion device of a ship, which discharges a low-speed water flow.SOLUTION: A propulsion device 15 of a ship has an intake opening housed in a hull under the water line for introducing water, a propulsion mechanism chamber 20 for introducing water and generating a propulsion flow, and a propulsion flow discharge opening. The propulsion device is configured to repeat a successive cycle, in which a propulsion blade vertically dividing the propulsion mechanism chamber into two parts is swung vertically, comprising: a first stroke in which the leading end of the propulsion blade is raised around the trailing end as a fulcrum until contacting with the ceiling of the propulsion mechanism chamber; a second stroke in which the trailing end of the propulsion blade is raised around the leading end as a fulcrum until the propulsion blade contacts with the ceiling of the propulsion mechanism chamber; a third stroke in which the leading end of the propulsion blade is lowered around the trailing end as a fulcrum until contacting with the bottom of the propulsion mechanism chamber; and a fourth stroke in which the trailing end of the propulsion blade is lowered around the leading end as a fulcrum until the propulsion blade contacts with the bottom of the propulsion mechanism chamber. The ship propulsion device may comprise plural propulsion mechanism chambers, in which respective propulsion blades are configured to be vertically swung at a phase difference of 90 degrees by drive mechanisms of link mechanisms and crank mechanisms.
